TechBooky: Nigeria’s Klasha Gets $2.1 Million In Additional Seed Funding To Scale Its Products For Cross-border Commerce In Africa

Klasha has raised $2.1 million in a seed extension round just months after the Lagos and San Francisco-based fintech company raised $2.4 million in an initial seed funding round led by Greycroft in October last year.
The Nigerian startup, which provides multiple products for the cross-border commerce space in Africa, raised this new financing from a group of international investors co-led by American Express (AMEX) Ventures, the strategic investment group of American Express.
In addition to the funding, the round included Amex Ventures – its first investment in an African-focused startup. Klasha’s funding round also included Global Ventures, a leading MEA-focused venture capital firm.
The seed extension round was co-led by American Express’ venture capital arm called American Express Ventures and a group of international investors. The round also received investments from existing backers such as Greycroft, Seedcamp, Plug and Play, Breega, and Berrywood Capital.
